You meet a guy at some social event. You have a great conversation, he appears very interested in you, and you seem to have some chemistry going on. When its time to leave you exchange cell numbers and he says he’ll call you. Then you head home feeling confident that you will be hearing from him probably sooner than later.

So you wait one, two, three days, still expecting a call at any second, but no call comes. After a week you start to face the reality that no call is going to come and you are left to wonder what happened.

 

So what was this guy thinking?

While any number of things could have been involved, most of them probably had nothing to do with you. In fact, his attraction for you was most likely real. The obvious reasons he didn’t call fall into 3 different camps, none of them involve him losing your number.

 

1) He was in some level of a commited relationship and had 2nd thoughts about going outside of it, even if he was highly attracted to you.

 

2) He chickened out due to a lack of self-confidence, or he just talked himself out of it for fear of rejection, possibly as a result of being burned in the past and not wanting to play the fool again

 

 3) In the end it’s possible he really wasn’t that into you and was just enjoying a boost to his ego that this kind of encounter provides

 

While you will probably never find out exactly what happened,  just realize, as I said earlier, that whatever his reasons for not calling it probably had almost everything to do with him and little or nothing to do with you.

 

If this happens to you, DON’T DWELL!! What you need to do is put it in the past and move on with your life. And as I always say, you never know if 3 to 6 months down the line his circumstances might have changed and he may have the courage to call and see if there’s still a chance you want to get together. At that point, you get to decide if you want to give him a 2nd chance.
